All-American Evan Wick to transfer to Cal Poly
Former Wisconsin All-American wrestler Evan Wick (San Marino HS) has his new school for the 2021-22 season. The former Badger entered the transfer portal back in May 2021. According to Intermat, Wick is transferring to Cal Poly. He, along with 2021 All-American Bernie Truax, will form an impressive 1-2 punch for Jon Sioreads’ team at 165 and 174 lbs. There were rumblings of Wick staying in the Big Ten, likely at Penn State, but the transfer didn’t materialize and Wick is headed to the west coast.
His younger brother Luka Wick, a member of the Class of 2021, is signed to wrestle for the Cal Poly. Luka is No. 33 overall on Mat Scouts’ Top 300 senior big board in the class. Wick has one more year of college eligibility and the multiple time All-American will look for a national title, most likely at 165 pounds should he not bump up to 174 pounds. If Truax bumps up to 184 lbs. that will give Wick the option to move up to 174 lbs. if necessary.
