Justin Mejia verbals to Illinois

Over the weekend Clovis’ Justin Mejia announced that he has committed to wrestled at the University of Illinois. Mejia has become just the fourth California wrestler to win three CIF State titles in his first three high school seasons. Next year he’ll be looking to join only Bakersfield’s Darrell Vasquez in becoming California’s only 4x CIF State champion.

Mejia is also a 2X Doc Buchanan Invitational champion. Mejia is currently ranked third in the country at 126 lbs. by FloWrestling and is projected to wrestle at 125 lbs. for the Fighting Illini. Just a month ago Justin decommitted from the University of Iowa to wrestle for Coach Tom Brands.
