What was going through your mind after defeating then No.1 in California Vincent Gomez from Frontier?
After defeating the No. 1 guy in CA I was in shock because I didn’t think I was at that level. I just went in the match telling myself to wrestle hard and forget about his ranking.
Who is your workout partner in the wrestling room?
My workout partner is Sergio Mendez. He also medal in the state of California this past weekend.
Are you still shell shocked after all that happen this weekend?
Yes, I am. It’s crazy just thinking about it now. Knowing that the LA City section had four state placers this weekend. Hopefully this becomes a domino affect, and we get the same results every year.
Now that you are a state champion will you try to wrestle in College?
I’ve always wanted to wrestle in college. Getting a scholarship through wrestling has always been the plan.
What do you think about the fact that you’re the first and only state champion in the City Section?
I feel like I accomplished something great because nobody in LA City history has ever done that.
How special was to be a medalist along with Sergio “Checho” Mendez?
It felt awesome because Sergio Mendez is a good friend of mine.
How special is your relationships with Coaches Solano, German and Arana?
I’ve known chad since I was little so we’ve developed a strong relationship I can go to him for anything. Will German is my uncle by marriage and we’re close as well. Jess Arana Is a good role model to me and is always there.
Will you keep your state medal or will give it to your mom or dad?
My aunt has my state medal because she’s supported me since day 1.
Is the state bracket up in your wall, yet?
Yes it is. I have it up so I can see it and can motivate me to win another state title next season.
Any plans of wrestling in the near future?
I plan to either go to Flo or NHSCA nationals and win a title.
How special was to have the Tiger wrestling Family in state?
It was very special for the tiger family because this is the first time we’ve had a state champ
Who would you liked to thank for this accomplishment?
I would like to thank god my family, coaches, and friends.
