Compound College Combine Coming to SoCal
Watch last year’s GA C3 coverage on FloWrestling!
Our goal with C3 is to create not just an event, but an experience for the coaches, athletes and parents attending.
Mission: Create an equal opportunity environment for athletes to showcase their work ethic, wrestling skills and character. This unique training combine will allow coaches to teach, communicate and evaluate athletes to determine which attendees are a potential proper fit for their athletic program and institution.
Camp description: The concept of C3 is to attract the top wrestling talent in the nation to specific regions of the U.S. to showcase their skills, work ethic and character in front of multiple divisions of college coaches that consistently show interest in those regions of the US. Our format is structured to create a common ground for coaches to evaluate athletes on several athletic and intellectual planes. This camp open to any and all ages and skill levels. The training and evaluation environment is structured with the attending athletes in mind. Athletes will learn and converse with coaches not just about wrestling but also their programs culture, academics and common standards. A list of college coaches attending will be released prior to the event. Below is some that have already committed to attend the event.
Coaches that RSVP: Will receive an information binder in printed and digital format of the attending wrestlers. Coaches will be able to look over the information prior to the C3 event and have a solid info background on the group of attending athletes. Have access to the athletes during the event as well as the athlete / parent meet and greet at the end of each day. RSVP at the link below.
Athletes that register: Each athlete that registers will be on showcase for all the committed coaches we have attending. They will also be outfitted with 2 days worth of custom colored gear based on their grade level with their name and projected college weight printed on their shirt. This will allow coaches to easily identify wrestlers throughout the sessions. Have access to the coaches during the event as well as the coach’s meet and greet at the end of each day.At the Compound we pride ourselves in putting out a top level product across the board. We are excited for athletes and coaches to work together in a highly informative environment to better the great sport of Wrestling. Canceling you registration less than a week out from the event will be non refundable.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The information form you fill out when you register will be your bio information we will give to attending coaches.

Hope International University in Fullerton to Start Wrestling
Hope International Release
May 28, 2024
Fullerton, CA – Hope International University is proud to announce our intent to launch a men’s wrestling program beginning in the 2024-25 academic year. Shawn Contos will lead the inaugural program as head coach.
Contos comes to HIU, having previously led programs at Lyon College (AR), Iowa Wesleyan University (IA), and St. John’s High School and Academy (OH). Contos has also served on the coaching staff at such institutions as Iowa State University, University of Maryland, and Pennsylvania State University with Cael Sanderson’s storied team that won four NCAA National Wrestling Championships. Coach Contos has wrestled internationally, competing in the 2012 Olympic Trials, ranked in the top ten in the nation at the senior level, and won several national championships.
His education includes completed coursework at Briar Cliff University, University of Michigan, and St. John’s Jesuit High School and Academy in Toledo, Ohio. Contos is certified as a Bronze Level coach with USA Wrestling, a level one CrossFit coach, as well as a certification in level one Olympic weightlifting and kettlebell training.
Asked about launching the program, Contos said, “I am excited to get things started and to bring together a group of like-minded individuals to glorify God with our effort. We are going to work on reaching the best version of ourselves and have fun doing what we love, focused on high-level technique and training at the highest capacity. I look forward to witnessing the development of these wrestlers on the mat, in the classroom, and spiritually as we strive to be our best and to praise Jesus Christ with all that we say and do.”
