Class of 2019 – Rankings
The class of 2019 is lead by 2018 CIF State Champion Jaden Abas from Rancho Bernardo High School. Abas verbally committed to Stanford a month or two before he placed 3rd at the Junior Freestyle Nationals in Fargo, ND.
Cleveland Belton of St. John Bosco could become part of an elite group of wrestlers if he can win his third CIF State title this year. He is committed to wrestle next year at Arizona State University.
Our third ranked wrestler is Matthew Olguin from Buchanan. Olguin had an amazing freshman campaign knocking off #1 ranked Nicholas Aguilar of Gilroy in the state finals. The future Fresno State Bulldog finished 3rd place both his sophomore and junior years.
Other wrestlers to keep an eye on this season are 2018 Champion Trent Tracy (Frontier, 1st State), Trey Munoz (Trabuco Hills, 2nd State), Victor Jaquez (Bellarmine Prep, 3rd State), Gabe Martinez (Oakdale, 2nd State), Christian Rodriguez (Selma, 3rd State), Jace Luchau (Selma, 4th State), Antonio Lorenzo (St. John Bosco, 3rd State), Ryan Reyes (Clovis West, 3rd State), Dawson Sihavong (Bullard, 4th State), Mark Cardwell (Monache, 4th State), Noah Blake (Del Oro, 3rd State) & Jacob Good (Clovis, 4th State), Ryan Cosio (Temecula Valley, 4th State), Marcos Polanco (Bishop Amat, 4th State), Max Aguirre (Frontier, 4th State) and Cole Reyes (Frontier, 4th State).

Class of 2019 Dawson Sihavong was accepted to a magnet school in Fresno for engineering and entrepreneurship, which doesn’t have athletics, but he will land somewhere in Fresno Unified. He was behind Ethan Leake last year at 113 on the Buchanan squad. Dawson won CA State folk champion and AA in Iowa Natl. He won the Western Regionals in folk and Greco by tech’ing all his opponents, and was a match away in placing at Fargo for Greco and 2 matches away in FS in a 128 man bracket. CA World Challenge coming up, and he’ll be going 122lbs in the HS elite division. Should be another fun “1st season” coming up! “2nd season” puts our focus on Fargo!
