2013 Zinkin Classic

The 12th Annual Zinkin Classic, which takes place on December 20th & 21st, 2013 is consistenly one of the best tournaments in CA and contracts are coming in fast. This is a 64-man bracket, true double elimination varsity tournament held on 11 mats with 3-sided digital clocks over two days. We will again have a large & small school champion along with custom awards for all wrestlers earning 1st – 8th place.

The Zinkin Classic has become one of the premier wrestling tournaments in the western region. Eight of the past eleven California State Team Champions began their season by participating in the Zinkin. Last year’s tournament included 76 teams throughout the Western United States from Texas to Alaska. Here is how the field fared at the 2013 California
State Tournament:

-4 State Champions & 7 Finalists
-33 State Medalists & 129 State Qualifiers
-State Team Champions & 6 out of the top 10 teams

Last year’s field also included the State Team Champions from Texas (5A), Nevada (5A), and Oregon (3A). This field also yielded 10 individual state champions and 23 state medalists in their respective states.

We are looking to add top tier teams that will improve upon these numbers, maintaining the Zinkin as California’s best initial look at state contenders from all over!

Contracts have been sent out to the best teams in the Western United States, as well as the Midwest and back East, as we look to make the Zinkin a national caliber tournament. It is important to secure a spot for your team as soon as possible as we will only be taking the first 75 teams to sign and return their contract. Already we have top teams participating from around California and states such as Oregon and Texas, so look for the quality, top-end competition to continue to rise.

Our central location, combined with the Friday later start time and Saturday early end time, provides affordable travel as well as an early look at some of the best competition in and out of the state. ROUNDS: Championship - Three two (2) minute rounds

Consolation - 1-2-2 Consolation.

FIRST AID: Will have a trainer on duty throughout the tournament.

FOOD: There will be a snack bar open the entire time

Lunch on December 21st for 3 coaches from each team.
